The most well-known TV appearance of Tala Gouveia is in the upcoming ITV cop drama McDonald & Dodds, where she co-stars with veteran actor Jason Watkins.

This weekend marks the premiere of the third season of the detective drama. In the previous season, West Country desk-bound officer DS Dodds and Londoner DCI McDonald teamed together to look into the shooting death of a homeless man in a desolate mansion.

Tala was born in Nottingham and remained there up until the age of eight, when she moved to London. Tala was nurtured in a community of actors and playwrights as the daughter of two educational theatre practitioners.

Tala had a lengthy and successful career in theatre until breaking out on McDonald & Dodds in 2020. Notably, she portrayed Juliet in the Romeo and Juliet production at Orange Tree Theatre in 2014.

After detecting an error in the series premiere of McDonald and Dodds, viewers were left perplexed.

On Sunday, June 19th, Tala Gouveia and Jason Watkins made their third appearance in the ITV drama series, in which they play the titular detectives who investigate crimes in Bath. A number of guest stars, including Catherine Tyldesley from Coronation Street, appeared in the pilot episode.

Her character Kate introduces herself to McDonald and Dodds in the episode and reveals that she is from the Surrey town of Crawley. The fact that Crawley is in Sussex, not Surrey, was quickly brought up by several viewers. One observer, however, suggested that the remark might not have been an error but rather a hint as to Kate's identity.

In the tweet, it was stated that "they've spent half an hour of this detective show figuring out that one of the witnesses isn't truly southern based on a little variation in her dialect and not from the fact that she indicated in her interview she's from Crawley in Surrey when Crawley is in Sussex."

Sundays at 8 p.m. on ITV, McDonald, and Dodds will continue.
